BEAUTIFUL CROCKS

I love shopping at the Thrift Store but some of the home decor you find is old and out of date! I came across this old jug and a crock that had pears on it. I picked them both up on 50% off blue tag day, so the old jug was $7.00 and the crock was $4.00. So, for $11.00, I’m going show you how to turn these into BEAUTIFUL Farmhouse Crocks, using an IOD stamp and a little paper clay! It doesn’t take a lot of money to make GORGEOUS home decor!

Old jug and crock that I bought at the thrift store.

First, I put some Creative Paper Clay on the jug, as well, as the crock with pears. You want to put a enough so that you can stamp the item without words being cut off. Smoosh down and smooth out. You can even use a little bit of water to smooth the paper clay out. Feather out the sides a bit, making them thinner as you go out.

Me adding paper clay to the jug.

Then using the IOD crockery stamp you want to press firmly into the clay with it. Press your finger over the stamp to make sure you are imprinting all the writing.

Using the IOD Crockery Stamp

Remove stamp and let clay dry over night.

Finished Crockery Stamp Imprint in the paper clay.

After the clay had dried over night I painted the entire jug and crock white. I used Rust Oleum Flat White Enamel Spray Paint. Then I let that dry.

Here’s me spray painting both the jug and the crock in Flat White Spray Paint.

Once your paint is dry. Then you are going to take some black wax and using a brush really get into all the nooks and crannies with it. This will allow your lettering and design to really stand out! I used Wise Owl Black Wax…it’s my favorite.

Get into all the nooks and crannies using a brush and some black wax.

After you have the black wax on the item, use a cloth to wipe some of it back. If you have too much black wax…no worries! You can use a little clear wax to remove it.

Wipe away some of that black wax with a cloth.

I did the same thing with the pear crock that we bought, as well.

Pear crock all painted and waxed.

I added a hang tag to the jug (I sell these in the shop as a download for $2.50-Set of 6 tags). I think they just give it a nice finished look. Then I display these items together. I think they came out GORGEOUS and they even look as if they are a set. Who would have even known that they were once Thrift Store items?!?!? See…it doesn’t take much to transform an old piece of home decor into a stylish piece of home decor!
